PS40Planar Speaker
The Alternate Audio PS40 represents the state-of-the-art in permanent magnetic push/pull planar speakers. Nearly 10 years of development have resulted in a speaker that is capable of extremely high-resolution audio reproduction.
The advanced technology of the PS40 offers the following benefits:
- Very wide bandwidth
- High power handling
- Controlled dispersion pattern
- Extraordinary dynamic range
- Linear push/pull magnetic structure resulting in ultra low distortion
- Purely resistive loading (planar element)
- Detail and resolution to rival live performance
- High-quality polypropylene crossover caps
- Gold-plated binding posts
The PS40 is capable of resolving precise details in any musical source due to the diaphragm's extremely low mass. The PS40 effortlessly handles the frequency range of most woofers, midranges, and tweeters, even though the PS40's diaphragm is lighter than the diaphragms of most common tweeters! This wide bandwidth capability minimizes the need for crossover networks and their associated distortions.

The PS40 uses a push/pull magnetic structure. This structure is expensive and difficult to manufacture, but results in a diaphragm that is always in the controlling magnetic field. The benefit of this is a sound with ultra-low distortion. Coupled to the PS40 planar element is a 10" Kevlar cone woofer of uncompromised quality.
